Haha, don’t worry – grammar is my weakpoint with French! Ma mère et sa famille et québecoise, donc j’ai appris un peu de français de ma mère. I started learning french in school in 7th grade, and I’m now a third-year university student who will be finishing her French minor this semester (just have to pass advanced grammar….. ;-;), donc je pense que cela est huit ans que j’ai vraiment appris la langue.
For me, French is much more about connecting with my roots and being able to speak to my relatives (and it is a very beautiful language, in how lyrical and elegant it can be), but Japanese holds a different type of beauty for me. Japanese is much more…. almost poetic, in its simplicity? But it’s also adorable and cute, and uses structures like counters and particles that aren’t really anywhere in Romantic languages. I should really stop before I go into a huge ramble on language families haha.
Merci beaucoup! Good luck yourself!
