    I was using JapanesePod101.com for a while but I found that it got a bit overwhelming because there were multiple things you could do all at once instead of a consistent Step 1, 2, 3, 4. Then I got RosettaStone and realized they don’t provide a “why” to their training. So then I Googled, on a whim, and came across this and fell in love. So now I’m here!

    So could you say that でわありません would need to be used with Business Professionals, such as bosses or co-workers, thus leaving じゃありません for maybe family friends or strangers in the rank of politeness level and everyday usage?

    And then if you were to shorten it to じゃない, when would the usage be appropriate then, and likewise with でわない.
