    That’s Season 3 finished. I found about 85% of that easy :)

That being said I’m hesitant to move on as the に and を particle have me a tad bit confused in terms of the correct time to use them. The sentence enders chapter was a wee bit strange as well but it’s clear that not every thing was meant to click right off the bat.

I think I’ll quickly review Season 3 just to double-check. I’ll likely make a separate thread about some questions I have about Season 3 because this is the first instance since my return to TextFugu where something has had me truly stumped.

But yesh, making progress, FEAR ME!

I’m going through Season 3 at the moment. I wanted to avoid making a new thread to have this question answered, so on the off chance it’s a mistake then we can add it to the list of errors (Although it’s likely me misunderstanding the lesson!). My question is on the subject of particles. The sentence below comes up during the verbs section within Season 3:

    スーパー を でましたか?

I honestly thought that the に particle was going to be used here when asking the question because “でます”, I believe means “to leave/Exit”, I always picture this as moving away, leaving. With there being movement involved shouldn’t the に particle be used here?

EDIT: Thinking about it some more the に particle just wouldn’t sound right, I just don’t understand why. I understand when it comes to eating or drinking why we use the を particle since that action is being performed on something. I guess I might be taking the concept of movement to literally.

That’s season 2 out of the way. It feels like a walk in the park compared to when I did it several months ago. Looks like this noodle brain of mine retained a lot more information than I thought. The whole experience felt like one giant review (Which is a good thing since the end of Season 2 still has no review!).

    Bring on Season 3!

    P.S: I’m loving WaniKani.

I haven’t finished TextFugu (Yet) but a lot of folks have recommended WaniKani as that covers the same Kanji learned through TF and potentially more. Might wanna sign up :D Because it’s in Beta I don’t think everyone can get access, I can’t remember if purchasing a life-time sub on TF granted me early access to WK.

    https://www.wanikani.com

It starts off slow but rapidly picks up the pace (Seriously, the pace quickens immensely). I hope that helps!

Lang-8 also worries me even now. What few entries I did write months back were correctted by several folks but the corrections tend to vary from each person. Some people make minor changes while others seem to turn my sentences upside down. Since my Japanese is still in the beginner stages any comments left are hard to understand.

For now I spend more time making corrections for people looking to learn English :) Once I get to a stage where I can string longer sentences together and talk about different subjects I’ll start making my own entries again.

Cheers for the link Aikibujin ^_^

Been there before, more than once!

In my earlier posts I mentioned burning out but I experienced something very similar to your situation as well. Season 4 was the first time that my progress stopped stone cold but between doing my Anki reviews and re-reading the chapters something eventually clicked and I was able to continue.

One thing I will say now is, don’t break the habit of reviewing your Anki and going through the chapters! When I thought to myself, “I’ll review my Anki tomorrow”, that eventually snowballed into me putting it off a week and before I knew it a month had passed. You end up second guessing your choices and spend more time thinking “I should do -X-” instead actually doing anything at all.

What exactly do you find about the adjectives that is giving you a hard time :)?

Season 1 was easy enough to breeze through and I’m almost done with Season 2, my weekend was fairly productive :)

WaniKani is a tad slow in terms of progression at the moment. I’m still level 1 despite getting my reviews correct but I’ve read that it starts off slow and the pace rapidly picks up. If that’s the case then I’ll wait and see for now.

Well work beckons me, I detest my job. I’ll keep you folks updated on my progress :D

Guess I shouldn’t put myself down too much then. Thanks for sharing Aikibujin :D

I’m breezing through Season 1 since it covers the bear basics. I’m thinking of using Wanikani for my Kanji learning, something about the layout and the way it’s presented I find is great for learning Kanji instead of the Anki decks that I used previously.

I’ve also returned to Lang-8. Though I spend most of my time making corrections for folks from Japan looking to learn English. My hope is that I can make a few friends online who can help me with my own studies later down the line.

Ah it feels great to be back and learning again. *Cracks knuckles*, time to wrap up today’s Kanji :D

Is it possible that you hit the dip and it was too steep for you to get out of it at that time, Wasif Asif?

I believe so. It felt like I came a long way but looking back at my earlier posts I recall Kanji being the bane of my existence :) I’ll use this weekend to go over the earlier seasons, I’m confident I can play catch up pretty quickly.

It’s something I’m seriously considering. I can’t imagine it would be that difficult to catch up to where I was up to before. With the weekend coming up it would be a perfect time to jump-start again :) Getting into the learning pattern again however will take some practice. Going over Season 1 the “What excuses hold you back”, this had seriously made me re-evaluate a few things. I can’t use the classic, “I don’t have enough time”. The hard truth is I do, but I prioritize my time on other things instead of learning Japanese (Makes me a sad Panda).

You ever experience getting burned out Aikibujin when learning Japanese?

Great to see people are still going at it!

I regretfully burned out a few months back, it’s moments like these I’m glad I got the lifetime membership. I will say this, although it’s been months since I did any in-depth study I find an incredible amount of the content I learned from the seasons (Up to season 6) is still retained in this noodle brain of mine. I’m immensely sluggish when compared to my former self when I had my daily pattern down but it just goes to show TF really works :)

Perhaps when the next TF update comes I’ll dive back in (Stop laughing! I know Koichi takes his time with the updates :P).

I obviously regret stopping my studies looking back now. So for anyone thinking of taking a breather…DON’T! I hope you folks continue :)

This has me a little worried since I’m only about halfway through Season 4. Hopefully by the time I delve into Season 6 it would been updated :)

Slowly but surely I’m clawing my way further through Season 4. I also signed up on Lang-8 and started typing the most basic entries applying much of what I learned from TextFugu in the wild. I even managed to make some friends who are learning the English language so we help correct each others mistakes.

It is a little depressing given to the sheer extent some of my entries get corrected (Don’t get me wrong, I like the fact that my mistakes get pointed out!) It’s nice that so many people chip in to help but what tends to cause confusion is that every person making a correction has a slightly different take on how my entry should be written. It makes it a tad difficult to choose which one to focus on. Everyone is also kind enough to leave a comment but since my Japanese is still very basic I can’t understand their advice and reasons for making a correction.

*Sigh*, nice to get that off my chest. Right, I have a new set of Kanji to learn :)
