What starts with ー? :P
I love following linguists online because it really feels like our understanding of language education is still in it’s infancy, and the age we live in is like the ages of discovery other areas of study have already had.
Something to clarify. Although it can roughly translate to “if” the implication is slightly different.
It really means that if the clause before it happens, then the thing after will SURELY happen. So it’s different to ~たら and ば形 in that respect. It’s often used in giving directions or warnings.
I own a copy of the fiction version. It’s awesome. I really have been meaning to do video coverage of all the books I own. I really should get to it. Would anyone be interested?

シドニー・オーストラリアLearn Japanese Pod with Alex and Beb (also others) is really cool and VERY casual. However, they don’t update every week.

Sunrise Sunset featuring Hard Gay. This…everyday. I’m not even joking.
When you pickup new vocab it really helps with readings, because you can say “well this kanji is pronounced like this in this compound, so it’s likely this.” and as you learn more words you’ll find out the ones that have exceptions etc. It’s detective work basically :P
Hey guys, yeah it’s a lot of fun and works basically the same way as many other sites based on spaced repetition system algorithms like Kanji Koohii RTK or Smart.fm (iKnow) and Anki. However it gives you a really nice interface with full audio and it has a cute little garden visualisation which is basic atm but cute and I could definitely see it updating. Also it’s free unlike iKnow now.
Keep in mind it’s still in beta and many courses are still being worked on. I can’t say for other authors, but the problems I had with the N5 course are already fixed :P
Oh sorry I missed this, another Southern Australian huh, we have another one floating around here somewhere. Welcome to the forum! I’m from Sydney so not exactly close but huh , go Australia

Hello from Sydney! Welcome to the forums, I would like to know what a civil drafter is as well (subset of architecture, or perhaps government publications?)

へぇぇぇ , 本気じゃないのか!?あんたは僕を賛成してくれれば素晴らしいと思うよ!!!絶対世界に一番生徒になる, お願いします~ (;・∀・)
Something else it seems your textbook is talking about, is using the right word when someone has “something”. For instance, if someone asks if you have a computer you can say “あるよ” which means “Yeah there is one (I have one)”. The same applies for shops, you can say “とうふがありますか?” which means “Do you have tofu?”.
HOWEVER, if someone is actually in possession of something you use 持ち (もち), which is usually said as 持っている or 持っています (politeness levels). The difference is, this thing is a thing you are carrying, like a map. “ちずを持っているの?” so “Do you have a map? (on you)”. Lastly, this also applies for cars and other automobiles.
ね車を持っているの? – Hey, do you have a car?
いいえいいえ、持ってないよ. – no I don’t have one- This reply was modified 12 years, 11 months ago by Sheepy.
