Traditionally its been the evenings in US Eastern or Western time, but lately we’ve been getting a mixed crowd. Generally evenings bring in people the most. But sometimes its the evenings for oceanic too.
Update: I changed this thread into a sticky so hopefully it’ll be obvious to all new members.

I had the same problem…until I just added Japanese to my university curriculum lol. So I ended up spending my day…getting tired doing the things I loved. But yeah, if you don’t have that option then there really is no point half assing it as missing said, so hopefully you come back to it at some point.

Yeah its weird because Yotsuba is such a mixed specimen. Disregarding it as a learning tool, its one of my favorite manga of all time, its cute and somewhat childish but even for adults the humor is pulled off so well and with such clean artwork, I cant fault it
In terms of learning though its weird. I don’t think I know an easier manga, but casual/slang wise its incredibly dense with. Either way its always good to just be doing SOMETHING. Some people end up obsessing over which method is best/safest but don’t get into it.
Oh just to emphasize, Japanese for Everybody (different from Minna No Nihongo) has really natural dialogue sequences, but not pure reading I think.
Also its probably my perception, that even if you can read Yotsuba you are still only near beginner level, but thats maybe because I dont feel that good at Japanese at the moment haha.
Something else that I havent really explored myself is graded readers, which they do make for JLPT N5. I think they’d be really good. Although I dont know if they actually have excercises, some might?

Sorry guys, it is in the Forum How-To as well. Don’t forget theres a password! Also zeldaskitten, it does matter which version, sometimes if you join with an old version you get all sorts of awful noise because they’ve done codec changes.
Anyway, I will try my best to at least pop in more.

^reading exercises? Hmm…just read (yotsuba or read real japanese and so on), if you NEED exercises? I’m not that sure.
Like others I’m going to also recommend Tae Kim if you haven’t finished it already. If you want a Textbook but you don’t want an EXPENSIVE one, then Japanese For Everyone is very cheap and contains a lot of info in such a small format (both a pro and a con). I think its only $20 from amazon.

Oh hey some really great conversation going on in here. Sorry I haven’t been around much lately. I just (technically) finished my university course (including Japanese 202) and my house has been renovated so its been a hectic few weeks.
Im looking forward to drilling down and getting some more stuff done. I actually just got a new DSLR, so I may start making videos talking about some of my favourite books including “Sentence Patterns for Effective Communication” but I need to spend more time with it before I’d make a video on it. (research is important)

Not bad! I knew about 97/100 of the top of my head so its not so useful for me, but thats a lot of really useful words there for new learners.
I hope you didn’t keep the awful romaji from that page though :P
It’s Rikaichannable (not a good habit though) if you’re not too worried about dealing with money and having no idea whats going on :P

Major point being the project hasn’t even received budgetary approval yet.
YesAsia even if you get free shipping, is more expensive than BK1 (they only charge the RRP on the back) and is based in China so don’t have anywhere near as big as range.
So I’ll vouch for BK1 as well. Oh and they pack very thoroughly.

Actually, contrary to popular belief listening to music without lyrics (instrumentals) with a soft/calming melody can actually help you to work better whilst studying.
Actually I believe that actually already is the popular opinion :P
I wish people would stop spreading this, I want it to be a dirty little secret so I can get one ;P
Even if you’re accepted you’ll need even more money than normal because you’ll be doing a lot. However, I will still try incredibly hard to get accepted. I’ll beat you all! >:(
