Teamspeak has been mostly non-textfugu for a couple years but no one will delete this post…
I’d highly recommend staying away from teamspeak then.
It’s not Japanese related at all anymore. Most of the people in it don’t study anymore.
It’s just a group of 4-5 guys chatting, usually playing games.
It’s impossible to edit posts on this forsaken forum/textbook (Koichi doesn’t even come here anymore!) so Missing cannot remove his post.
So…like I said almost a year ago at this point. This IS NOT TextFugu teamspeak anymore. You WILL NOT learn ANYTHING about Japanese if you come in. You WILL most likely be insulted by someone name Bbvoncrumb. That is all.
The solution to your problem is a simple one. All you have to do is go to this website and watch the video tutorial.

So a forum where the admin never has time to come around and the moderators don’t do enough… (I read up on the koohii issues) that sounds a lot like this forum…
Yeah. Fightin’ words. :P
But yes, like crumb said, NihonBeat forum is up and running and it’s quite sexy. Come check it out. Don’t forget to swing by NihonBeat’s main page while you’re there!
We’ve put a lot of work into this site so I hope you like it!

October 15, 2012 at 11:59 am in reply to: How Far Will TextFugu Take Me (In Its Current State)? #36239Yeah, crumb. I hear that NihongoForum is going to be so much more awesome.
Fin: If you really hate it so much why don’t you make it better? It is open source, after all.
You’re saying some pretty incendiary things that, while true, are completely off base and unnecessary. The program doesn’t need the pretty UI or elaborate functionality that you think it should have. The truth of the matter is that all those things simply serve to distract you from your studying.
No. It’s not the simplest thing in the world to use. Yes, it can be frustrating…but calling it shitty is a little low, man. IT’S FREE, DAMNIT. You want something better? Then go out and pay for it.
Well I’ve got an in with a good seller and I can always get good deals from him. I might even be getting some ANNIN PHOTOS, missing! :o
I’m always willing to piggyback shipping to the US if anyone wants to get anything.
I don’t think they’ll care. They barely ever look at these forums.
October 14, 2012 at 2:15 pm in reply to: How Far Will TextFugu Take Me (In Its Current State)? #36218It’s like I tell people. Get Textfugu…pay Koichi for a month or two in order to get your feet wet…then just go somewhere else. Or just drop of the face of the planet and never study again like most people do.
One of these days Koichi may come back to Textfugu full time…but it seems like he’s more concerned with Wanikani right now. He’s posting on that forum almost daily. When was the last time he joined the member discussion here, anyways? >.<

HA!
You think crumb is bad? I think he’s only got a few…The three 0.5″ binders on this shelf are just my Miichan photos. The stack of photos is Miichan photos and about 150 others that I have yet to sort thru. I also have 2 1.5″ binders filled with photos. :P
Most of my collection centers around Miichan, Kana and whatever Yukirin photos I can nab at low prices. I have about 40 different Christmas photos, too. They’re hard to find so I feel like I’ll never end up with them all. :(
What happens when the customer replies in Japanese…?
You’d be better off going to lang-8 for this kind of thing.

I think it’s just an easier way to say it when pair up with certain other syllables. Or maybe it’s even an accent thing or an intonation thing (such as the rolling of Rs in agressive/yankee speech. The Japanese language in incredibly versatile and many different accents, slang pronunciations and situational intonations can make it sound completely different.
I will say this….in no way should you refer to textfugu’s sound clips as “canon” they aren’t perfect.
The pronunciation you’re referring to almost sounds like the chinese way of saying that same type of syllable. Zhi. This was the way it used to be romanized before modern romaji came along as well.
