Speaking and listening are generally are the hardest parts to learn.
No, I don’t think you should move off this and come back. Do both, now.
Instead of doing just TF, start practising your listening (and speaking if possible) as well as doing TF.Mister – Word

@Adam – What are the podcasts you’re listening to?September 11, 2013 at 12:35 am in reply to: The "I found some Japanese I don't understand" thread. #41869I saw a Japanese person list their occupation as 自由人, which the dictionary tells me is “free person”.
Are they trying to say in an elegant way they’re unemployed? If not, what are they getting at?Ryokan are fantastic.
Living there for an extended period of time, years, would rely upon having a strong community/social group to be in. Without that one would struggle – I’ve heard of a few people going through this problem.
I’d be game to do half a year there & working – but if that’s not possible, holiday there a lot!

Sorry, N5. I did the ‘test’ test on the website and did ok with it, except for the speaking, so think I should be ok with it.
Am too pessimistic to try N4 at this stage, don’t think I’m really ready for it.I suspected that Joel, but wasn’t 100% (I must be the non-gamer learning Japanese!).
Yes, it is the past tense dictionary form of to do. TF will cover this stuff.
I’m not sure what’s common to use when talking about video games (not enough of a gamer!), so can’t help there, sorry.
I’m looking to do it…this summer.
These coin puzzles are brilliant!
wow
Great call Mr
Possibly the most contentious issue with learning Japanese!
I’d say trying to learn both pronunciations is not a good idea. It would be too confusing & inefficient.
I’d try and work one pronunciation into the mnemonic you’re using to learn a kanji. If you can’t, don’t worry about it, learning a mnemonic for the meaning is the priority.
Learning vocab with the kanji instead of worrying about learning the pronunciation is pretty popular.I haven’t done Heisig but from what I’ve seen it just does the meaning for each kanji. If you want to do pronunciation it’s up to you to work it in.
