Cheers to all those with procrastination problems and are attempting to learn Japanese. I’m here with you. It’s gonna’ be a long ride, but we’ll get there eventually, right? :D
Unless you’ve studied some Japanese before, I’ve got quite the step ahead of you, Xash. Not to brag about my newbie skills, but I already know hiragana, katakana, some kanji, and some SUPER basic sentence structure. >:D
Going on for day 2, I’m just blazing through season 1 right now, since I know most of it already. So far I haven’t come across anything new yet. Not to say I haven’t been following along. I’ve done all the “write down your goals” and “passion list” stuff (most of the words I’ve come up with are computer words, so it’s a lot of katakana. :<). Honestly, I see these as bogus so far, but I fessed up $60 dollars, so might as well follow it to the letter, right? (well, I haven’t cleaned my room like it asked, but that’s something I’m definitely working on) What I’ve tried before hasn’t worked, so if this does, maybe I’ll start believing all this psychology junk… Maybe. >_>
I heard about the sale from Reddit also. I’m pretty much in the same boat. I’ve taken a couple of Japanese classes before, so I know a bit, but it’s not enough to hold up any form of conversation. Also Rosetta Stone is a piece of garbage. It’s just pictures and audio without any explanation…
But I hope we can both stay motivated here and maybe hold up a few minutes of Japanese conversation at some point in the future.
Hello Xash! I just picked up TextFugu today seeing the New Year’s sale today. I myself am aiming for a similar goal. I want to import the Spice and Wolf Japanese novels one day and read them all without the need of having to open up a dictionary every minute looking up a new word I haven’t seen before.
Here’s hoping a successful journey for both of us! :D
