I’ve opted to start again from Hiragana to recap, as I can read it fairly well but have forgotten how to write it. I also did always have some trouble remembering Katakana because I didn’t put as much effort into it as Hiragana.
Im hoping that the rest of the lessons come back naturally, based on simply getting myself back into studying at all. Hopefully I’ll reenter the mindset.
I think I need to get used to the idea that I’ll have to start anew in some areas, because 2 months is a long time to take a break from learning a tricky language.

Has anybody else compiled a textfugu deck of a few example sentences starting from the beginning of Season 4? If so I’d be incredibly grateful. I too feel that the sentence examples were very helpful in hammering the knowledge home. Without the sentence decks we’re essentially learning new information but seldom getting the chance to review it.
My trouble is that having gone through the particles を、に, etc. I have begun to forget how exactly to use them.
The same can be said of the conjugations for the い adjectives, etc.
Otherwise I might pick up where Koichi-san left off and compile a list of sentences and decks myself. Please do let me know if this has been done already, however!

Wait so can I get a bit of clarification here?
So can 一人 でした mean both “It was one person” and “I was alone”?
And can 一人 じゃありませんでした mean both “It was not one person” and “I was not alone”?And it all depends on the context of the conversation?
I have often wondered this actually. I am quite a gamer myself and have thought about switching to Japanese language (wherever possible) to help my comprehension. It’s a shame that it seems unfeasible until I’ve learned the Jouyou Kanji though :(
So how helpful would it be to switch the language to use Kana instead of Kanji? Is that really feasible for a devoted learner or would it maybe have more of a detrimental effect in the long run?
What I’m trying to figure out is that (obviously) immersion is a good way of experiencing the language firsthand, but at what point is it a good idea?

I think if I’m understanding you correctly, is that the answer to a question in Japanese first states if the question is correct. So “Is it not a dog?” would in effect be answered with “You are correct, it is not a dog – はい、いぬじゃありません” or “You are incorrect, it is a dog – いいえ、いぬです?”
just add a note about 七人 pronunciation! please, even if you don’t respond here.. a simple note can’t be too time consuming… and it would prevent a lot of confusion for the people who are still trying to learn from your current website.
I do agree. The note about 七人 would be absolutely invaluable and I suffered from it myself :P

I’d imagine Japanese speakers can’t even comprehend how to say “Red lorry, yellow lorry” in English :P Granted, it’s still tricky for us, but you can see it’s even more difficult for them because they’re not used to stuff like that.
Oh my goodness yes I definitely see what you mean now! Wow I can’t even imagine it!
In regards to my sentence it is definitely a mouthful at times, but others I can clear it relatively easy. I think I just need to wait for my brain to catch up :)
OT: Did you know that Perfume played in the UK, France and Germany last year? They finally came to *my* country and I didn’t even know about it till about 6 months after >.<
YES! I was there!!! I was at the London show and got the T-Shirt and towel and everything! I’m so sorry you missed out on it but they seemed so surprised to find they had a very dedicated following here in Europe so hopefully they will be back soon :)
You’re not daft – there is a pattern. It’s just that 一人 and 二人 are not it, but Koichi never mentions that anywhere. Yes, curveballs come out of nowhere all over the place. Just wait until you start learning how to count days. =)

The only thing that still kills me occasionally is – め and ぬ<br>
わ, ね, and れ used to get me as well, but I no longer have any problems with them.I can’t stand め ぬ わ ね れ! They STILL get me and it’s been months!
