Oh man you haven’t lived. Go out there and find some bad japanese teachers.
It wasn’t bad really I mean it was kinda sad that she was flirting with all the other boys and not me, but its not as bad as the time my chemistry teacher told me I’d never touch a woman, its true she actually said i’d never get married, but I figure she was holding back.
Maybe the teacher would have been ok if I was a new learner but i’ve been not learning Japanese for long enough that I know what methods of teaching and learning work for me.
Oh right I was supposed to say, tell me your hilarious stories about bad japanese language learning experiences. GO GO GO.
One thing to be aware is that kanjification site splits your name into syllables and then kanjifies them, but there are other ways to kanjify your name, Also look at the advanced bit where you can choose the syllables directly.

I wonder if Japanese ear wax properties are related to diet. I find it hard to believe DNA would code for ear wax.
Japanese diets are lower in fats so maybe thats why they’re ears are less gooey.
Here’s a good one, do something you don’t want to do, like revise for exams, you’ll be all like, OK that’s a whole 5 minutes of revision, now let’s do some Japanese.
Either do something you enjoy that is japanese related, e.g. watch anime in japanese no subs (unless subs are japanese), play a game in japanese, watch a crazy japanese person do crazy japanese things on youtube…
Or don’t do any japanese! The brain needs time to think, to ruminate, to cogitate, and stuff, so give it a break, sometimes a break is all you need to get better, let your brain think about it some and then it’ll reorder it and catalogue it and poke it into its memory and then it’ll be easier. I do this last one a lot, the trick is to not do it too much or you become so good you start forgetting things.

Part of learning any language is to learn the rhythms and sounds, just listen more to Japanese, the stuff in typical japanese language learning is very sterile and unnatural, try listening to japanese podcasts, or videos etc.

Double vowels or double consonants break up sentences more than words beginning or endings. Particles also break up the sentences, a ga here a wa there, a wo over there. Listen for the particles. By identifying the way the sentences are built its easier to break them down into sounds you might recognise.
Check the zip file you downloaded does it contain the files?
if it does copy them to the anki folder which contains the media for the correct deck, that should get your pencil back on side.
If it doesn’t contain the file then you could bounty it through text fugu.
I d/led the zip I got and it had all the junk in and I imported it into a new deck and it worked. Maybe try downloading again and import it again?
Oh and just a thought make sure you extract the zip file first, if you just use windows ‘its a folder but its not’ technology then it’ll probably only have access to the anki file and not the media folder.
If you use jisho.org and stick in the romanisation into the japanese box it should return anything close. I think tomu is standard enough that its probably nothing obscene :)
Also as Joel said there’s a specific way that some names are transliterated, I’ll see if I can find that resource from ages ago I ignored :P
