I’ve been experiencing similar problems, lately. Sometimes it’s on Textfugu, sometimes it’s Youtube or other sites. I open a tab, and then all of the sudden Chrome stalls so badly that it locks my entire OS up. It takes a couple of minutes just to get Task Manager up so I can kill it.

I was having a bit of trouble on the same thing. I’ve been getting better just brute-forcing it with Anki, but I think your mnemonic will help cement it into my brain. Thanks for sharing. :D

If you’re using Windows, this may help you to type in Hiragana/Katakana/Kanji.

I just set it up yesterday, and it’s fairly easy to type, if you know the Romaji translation. All you need to do is hit alt+shift to switch between keyboard setups.

EDIT: Trying to figure out how to use tags in this forum. Heh.

Which section are you on? Which vocabulary are you referring to? I believe Katakana starts in Season 3.

If you’re referring to the “passion list”, a lot of my words were Katakana as well — apparently because a lot of computer-centric words are foreign. (I think?)

Thanks for the input Michael. I’ll remember that for when I start coming across more complex kanji.

Same here, Robot! An Anki card asked what radical hachi is built off of, and I’m thinking “oh yeah, I know this one, it’s Fish Legs *smug look*”. Turns out it’s Volcano :O . That created some momentary confusion, but I guess it’s like how ri/ki/sa can appear differently, so I’ll just start mentally grouping Fish Legs and Volcano.

    Thanks guys!

I’ve only bulk-written the Katakana vowels and K/S/T/N — just enough to have a little exposure and recognize the easy ones (“se” is nice). The reason for this is that I started on Human Japanese, and their method has you learn Katakana directly after Hiragana. I intend to go through TextFugu in order and at a reasonable pace, so I think I’ll be in Season 1 for some time.
