>>>Funny seeing Utd celebrate to then hear the City result and their faces turned to dispair :)
Priceless! :) It was definitely nail biting, loved it.
Ciiiiiiiiiitttyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!
Really, I just hate Man U. (fans). Awesome final game. :)
>>>Just tried it, it works offline! Audio/images all work fine.
Ah, didn’t know that. :) Good info.
I haven’t had any syncing problems for a long while with Anki, though I did in the beginning (android and PC). I think four devices is way too many to keep track of, that would definitely be a hassle.
I really like Anki because I can use it offline (no 3g and wifi everywhere I go), so I can sneak some reviews while I’m at work. I don’t think iKnow and Anki are mutually exclusive. Even if I used iKnow I would still have Anki for all the other stuff I’m learning.
@hey >>Also, it doesn’t seem to have audio.
You just need to hook up your device to your PC and drag the sound files into the corresponding .media folders.
There’s a way to do it over Dropbox as well, but I never got that to work properly.
I think it would be helpful to label all the stuff in your house. As in, sink, desk, table etc etc with the corresponding Japanese words. Also, it might be helpful to put sentences that are associated with what they are on. Like the fridge could have “I am hungry” or “open the fridge” etc.
Just ideas on top of whatever else you were thinking. :)
You haven’t gone into too much detail about how you’re having problems, so it’s a bit hard to give advice.
I use a kind of syncing system to try and avoid issues. I usually do all my reviews on my Android. So I wake up and clear out all my reviews that are due (throughout the day or however long it takes), and when everything is done I “sync all”. Only then will I open AnkiPC (which auto syncs on start-up) and make any additions/deletions to my decks. When I’m finished tending to my decks for the day (usually at night just before I turn off my computer) I sync my PC again (before turning off Anki), then I “sync all” on my Android, making sure that the correct number of cards comes across (to make sure there are no issues), and then shut down PC Anki.
I haven’t had a problem in a while. Before, sometimes one side would sync to Ankiweb, the other side would say it is synced, but it wouldn’t be, no matter how many times you synced. When that happens it’s easiest just to delete the deck on the troubled device (PC or Ankidroid, AFTER checking that Ankiweb is correct) and then re-downloading from Ankiweb (a 2min process total once you know what you’re doing).
Hopefully that answered your question?
Amazon.ca has JSPEC ($20), and seem to be willing to ship internationally. Over a month to ship, so I don’t know if they might cancel in the future due to realising they have no stock or something.
You can follow the thread here and see if anything crops up in your area.
Yeh it is, the sentences do help a lot though. The “What do you want” chapter also has audio so that’s helpful for a sentences in your deck as well.
I’m around the same point. I’ve added my own cards to the sentences deck. There are example sentences that you use and practice during the lessons, you can just copy/paste and add them as cards to your Textfugu deck. You won’t have any audio, but at least you’ll have the sentences to remind you how things are supposed to be working. Also remember there are sentences you can steal from the worksheets too (or even make up your own).
There is Tae Kim’s grammar guide, but if I remember correctly he works with sentences in casual form (same principles though), but might be a little weird if you haven’t been introduced to casual outside of Textfugu (which would be Season 5 if you’re following the order).
Edit: Actually I just noticed that い adjectives have sound for the sentences, so just right-click the blue arrow and “copy link address” and then paste that in the audio field of the card (make sure you are creating cards with the “Japanese” template, which is what textfugu uses). Anki will automatically stick the audio in your folder.
UUmmm…because that’s how rainbows are made? DUH!
@ Daniel, yes that’s my name. =)
That country changer app looks quite nifty, need to try that out.
Do the ultimate decks include Kanji or is it all Kana?
Edit: Trying to decide whether to bother with those or just start off my Core2k journey.
