Welcome! :)
If you would like an even more vibrant community, you should check out WaniKani.com as well. It’s made by the same guys as TextFugu and Tofugu and is solely about learning kanji.
Yes, go with Anki 2. It works fine here (Windows 7).
Hey :D
Yeah, TextFugu is a great resource. For ‘all those symbols’, you should consider checking out WaniKani as well. I am at season 3 now in TextFugu, but recently started WaniKani as well. They work really well together.
Hello. Nice to meet you! :)
Hello there!
I think it’s nice to be able to prove to yourself that you are (still) able to learn something as difficult and different as a new language. It’s a great challenge :)
I read that なに can stand alone, like just asking “What?”
On the other hand, なん cannot stand alone. You need to say something like “What is that?”
Not 100% sure about this, but I think it makes sense.
Hey!
I also started on TextFugu recently (I’m at season 3 now). However, it sounds like it is not going to be updated (that much), so after season 8 there isn’t that much left to do. That’s why I only bought a monthly subscription, since I think I’ll be able to go through everything within a year or less. Then there’s WaniKani for kanji, which I am currently trying for free :)
Cool, I myself am practicing karate in the style of Wado-Ryu (have the orange belt). Aikido sounds interesting as well, I want to try it some day. Even though it is some time since you did it, which one did you like most, and why? :)
Welcome :)
Yeah, I was a little confused with that one as well. Sometimes it seems that vocab is misplaced (e.g. with some examples from the kanji pages). However, it’s only a few times – and after a few tries in Anki you will be able to remember it, anyway.
I am in season 3 right now. Together with the Anki decks, I’ve decided to use http://www.wanikani.com/ as well :)

Anki 1 does not sync to the web, which is a big reason for me to use Anki 2, so I have a backup of my decks and I can download/upload cards on my smartphone.
Can you specify what the problem is? :)
To create a deck in Anki 2, hit the “Create deck” button, as shown in this picture:
Then you simply hit “Add” and type in your words.
To import a deck, hit the “Import” button. There are multiple ways to move/merge decks.
The way I do it is to hit the “Browse” button and find the deck I want to move. Then I select all of them (Ctrl+A) and hit the “Change deck” button. Here I choose the deck I want the cards to be moved to and hit “Move cards” :)
Hi there, fellow Scandinavian person :P
I’m from Denmark :)
I also recently started. Almost through season 2 now. Really enjoying it.
Welcome! :D
If you have an Anki deck, then you should quickly be able to remember/re-learn the hiragana :)
You probably figured it out, but if somebody has problems with merging two decks in Anki, it’s actually pretty easy. The way I do it is to hit the “Browse” button and find the deck I want to move. Then I select all of them (Ctrl+A) and hit the “Change deck” button. Here I choose the deck I want the cards to be moved to and hit “Move cards” :)
I grabbed the image a long time ago on Zelda.com. Haven’t seen the version with the purple background since.
Even though I am a big fan of The Wind Waker, I am unsure of what to think with the new Wii U HD re-make. The new graphical style just looks odd to me.
Hehe, as I see it, the more activity on this forum the better :P
I also like the Monkey Island series quite a lot. Played through 1 and 2 when they were re-released a couple of years back in HD. So funny, especially with voice acting. I wish they would re-do 3 and 4 as well.
Ps. It seems like Koichi-san also enjoys the games; he made a “three-Headed monkey” joke in one of the lessons at some point :P
