Missing – great job commenting on a forum entirely in Japanese. That’s awesome!
I’m still catching up on Anki, aiming for 20 minutes a day. I missed a couple days due to some craziness around here. Father in law started his third round of chemo yesterday so we’re back in the hospital. :(
Reviewed my vocab deck from JapanesePod101.com. I am way behind still but trying to catch up. One of my cards today was answered “easy” and will be shown again in 3.9 years, now my most mature card. The card? わかりません. Oh, the ironies. ;)
I finished my 20 minutes of Anki, wish I had more time to study today. Down to 2,162 cards.
Ashley, how cool that you were able to track down the place and get a job there! It’s a bummer that you can only speak English, though. Are you able to get some speaking practice after work?
How long have you been working there and how long will you stay? Any plans to stay in Japan long term?
Hope you’re having an awesome day! Good luck with your studies!
~CassandraGigatron, how long has it been since you last opened Anki? If the number is overwhelming, you can always suspend most of the cards until you get caught up with the ones that aren’t suspended. I’ve considered doing that. lol.
Finished my 20 minutes of Anki. Down to 2,332 cards. Yesterday I was tripping over some of the simplest material but today I could feel some of it coming back. I was getting worried. :P
Hi Chiyo! Welcome to the forums and good luck with your studies. :)

“I dread to think how long 2541 cards would take to clear…”
LOL. I will let you know… Finished my 20 minutes and ran out of time. My battery died while at the hospital this evening and I forgot to take my charger. Oops. 2,479 cards left to go.
Ok, back to posting so that I have some accountability. I am still out of town and have no daily routine right now but I’m going to pledge to study for at least 20 minutes per day. That should be doable and is a vast improvement over nothing…
Today’s goal – 20 minutes of Anki flashcards just to get some quick review. I only have 2,541 cards due.
Near Detroit? I think that’s about 2.5 hours from me. I’m not terribly familiar with Michigan as I’ve only been here twice. I’m enjoying the spring, though! Much nicer than the Arizona HOT.
Michael – I’ll try to post more. :P I know you and a few other people have far surpassed my pathetic Japanese abilities but I’ll try to get back up to speed. lol
Thanks, kanjiman. :)
Kyle – I’m in the very southwestern corner, near Berrien Springs/Berrien Center/Niles. It’s just north of South Bend, IN.
Awwwww, thanks for missing us MIAs. ;)
I’ve been in Michigan for over a month, helping take care of my husband’s family. My father in law has a pretty bad case of cancer. :( :( I’ll probably be here until the end of May and then I’ll be flying home.
My Japanese studies have been completely non-existent for the past six weeks, though I’ve started lurking around the forums the past couple days and loaded up Anki today for the first time in over a month. Eek. 2,636 reviews due.
I notified Koichi that I was going to be away for awhile but didn’t post anything on the forums. Sorry about that! I’ll try to check in more often. :)
~CassandraHi Ari, welcome to the forums! :) You have good goals. It’s cool to see inspiration like your boat guide or teacher who can speak the language fluently. You have a dream. Now set smaller goals to help you get there. You’ll make tons of progress!
Good luck with your studies!
~CassandraI watch some, but not a lot. Skip Beat was fun. I wish they’d release another season! Nodame Cantabile is my all time favorite. Awesome show!
Hi Li. Welcome! :) What’s your favorite anime? Good luck with your studies!

Hi Megan! Welcome to the forums. :) I’m a 29 year old housewife as well! mmmm… cheesecake. ;)
Anyways, welcome and good luck with your studies!
