Hi Louis! Welcome to the forums and good luck with your studies!
Cassandra
I hope you have a wonderful trip! We’ll be looking forward to seeing all the photos. :)
Merry Christmas, all!
Joel, so far you’re just the only one to post a link to a blog. I know of at least one other TextFugu’er who blogged a trip to Japan but no one else has responded to the thread. :(
Hopefully we’ll be able to collect a few more links!
December 21, 2011 at 12:09 pm in reply to: Secret admirer of textfugu finally got membership ^^ #22777Chama – Welcome! I don’t think we have anyone here who is from Sri Lanka. I’m glad to have you on board!
Good luck with all of your studies! If you need anything at all, please feel free to ask. :)
CassandraHi Gordon, welcome! Glad to have you here. :)
Good luck with your studies!
CassandraThanks, Joel! I have you added to the list. Anyone else?
Hi Fábio!
Welcome to TextFugu. :) I use most of the same resources you do, but I would recommend JapanesePod101 as another great website. I use it every single day. It’s well worth the cost of a membership because the PDFs on the newer lessons contain tons of information – grammar tips and explanations, kanji, vocabulary, and sample sentences for each lesson.
Welcome and good luck with your studies!
CassandraChristmas break? There is such a thing? lol. Not once you’re out of school…
This week I’m working on a quilt that I’m trying to finish by the end of the year. I’m also going to attempt to start and complete a quilted table runner for a Christmas present for my mom. Attempt. ;) Oh, and I’m working on our Christmas luncheon menu and will be making pumpkin pie in advance. Fun stuff!
I feel so old compared to you guys. LOL. I was born in 1982. My favorites – Lois & Clark, the New Adventures of Superman. Pogs. The Internet (we had Compuserve first). I remember when gas was less than a dollar a gallon. HA!
Yosk – at least you are learning it now. :) Better now than never! Good luck with your studies. :)

Amazon is also an option, or half.com. I found Ebay to be terribly expensive because of listing fees and commissions. Amazon is also expensive on the commissions. For reselling movies and video games, I found half.com to be the best website.
It won’t make a lot of money, but Amazon’s mturk program makes a bit. You have to be choosy about what you spend your time doing on there, but you can make some additional money through that website.
Good luck!
Hmmm… I’m not sure that you’ll never burnout if it’s something you truly want to do. I’ve been studying Japanese for almost two years, I love the language, and I’m excited about learning. It’s something I really want to accomplish – fluency and communication. However, I’ve suffered through times of burnout and times when I couldn’t do anything at all with the studying. Does that mean I don’t really want it? No. Just that motivation can ebb and flow. Overall, I DO want to learn Japanese.
Today I had a major milestone in Anki. For the first time, I reviewed a card that is now due in over TWO YEARS. I have plenty of cards that are due in 1.x years, but that was the first time I’ve set a card to be reviewed in 2.1 years. Very cool!
Bummer that you didn’t win! It was fun getting to vote. :)
