So, something that ends with る but without い or え before the る  is considered “Type 1″ right? i.e. あやまる => あやまります?

Sorry if that’s a double post… Still haven’t found the search on these forum. If it’s hiding somewhere or I’m too dumb to see it, let me know! :)

I don’t know about that bounty thing, I’ll check it out when I get a sec. Thanks.

    lromao,

I’m afraid it doesn’t. After going through a few more grammar lessons, it becomes clear that Koichi just doesn’t know even the most basic stuff when it comes to English grammar. It might be a cultural thing though, because most people on here seem to think I’m a “grammar nazi” but where I’m from most people would be like “WTF?”…

That being said, there are a lot of other good things… I’m at season 5 now and I’m gonna finnish it. But I’ve been supplementing the grammar stuff with Tae Kim as well as a book called “A dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar” which is pretty much the opposite of textfugu… The grammar is spot on, but it’s a super dry read, better used as a reference.

@mtb812 Just because you don’t know anything about grammar doesn’t make me a “Nazi”. I’m not being finicky about the finer details of obscure grammatical points here. This is really basic stuff. I guess grammar is not taught in US schools?

I gotta say though, I can see now why it would be pointless to correct that chapter… I just got to the は and が chapter, and reading his definition of a “subject” makes it clear that he really has no idea of what he’s talking about when it comes to grammar.

I still think it would have been better if he just came up with his own terminology instead of providing wrong information, but hopefully it won’t get in the way of learning Japanese… Let’s see how it pans out.

The tone is funny and casual, but everything seem very professional to me. That’s why I got a life account.

I have no idea how I would explain it… You don’t need to be Mozart to know when someone’s out of tune ;)

#1 I just drag a bookmark of the last lesson I studied on my desktop, but I do agree that it makes it hard to keep track of your studies on different devices… The easiest way to make it a bit easier for us would be to have a more verbose  summary page, with the title of each individual pages within lessons instead of the pagination looking thing that’s in place right now, or at least have the title in the “title” attribute of the numbered links so we can read them on hover states.

#2 Being a web dev, I can tell you it’s not gonna happen ;) This would be a LOT of work to implement, and knowing how they like the 80/20 rule, they wouldn’t allocate so much resource to that. But there are quite a few nice options available for time tracking both online or iOS/Android apps… :)

You can call it a copula, but it’s still definitely a verb and definitely not a particle.

I don’t think there is room for interpretation here and it’s not ok to provide wrong info in order to get a point across. It just doesn’t seem professional and I believe it’s detrimental to the overall credibility of the course. And it would have confused the hell out of me if I wasn’t already familiar with that specific part of the Japanese grammar.

It’s not the end of the world or anything… but I think that lesson should be tweaked.

Renaming the downloaded files to the exact same name as your original deck works for me (OS X + Android). Both the .anki file and .media folder need to be renamed though.

This should probably be a sticky, since there’s no search I can find on these forum…
