I don’t think I mind it being boring, the ultimate lists weren’t fun in any way at all but getting through them wasn’t that bad, nor that time consuming once I stopped being lazy.
I’ll try to finish RTK within a month, it’s only around 400 pages for the entire book. If I managed to read A Storm of Swords (1200 pages) in 3 weeks this should be child’s play. I think the main time consumer will be the reviews like マーク says. I’m not sure I’m too happy with how well I’m retaining kanji meanings from solely using Read the Kanji, I feel the website introduces new cards too quickly and the option to change how often it does that no longer exists with the new site version. (at least I don’t think it does, it’s not where it was before)

@Joel Because it’s easier to get across how it should sound without creating confusion, if I say “a-ni-me” then people could end up thinking you’re meant to say “me” as in, I.
The “me” in “anime” sounds the same as how you’d pronounce the month May anyway.
Mainga? Where the hell do people get that i from?! It’s “man-ga” and “a-ni-may”
I think your friend is lying. Or spoke to an imposter. ;)

I have RTK now, I figured I would give it a proper try and I got it for an okay price. If it works out well for me I think it could go together nicely with Read the Kanji.
Any of the Pokemon games on DS, those games don’t exactly have the most complex language or plots so they could be a good idea. If you have a Dreamcast you could play Shenmue II, it has Japanese audio and English subtitles, I think the Xbox version has English voiceover with no option for Japanese, but I could be wrong on that one.
Actually you could just use an emulator to play Shenmue, the first game has Japanese audio but no English subtitles, unfortunately the European and US releases don’t have Japanese audio at all.
Eh, really? It says here how to type everything: https://www.readthekanji.com/help#romaji-converter

Seeing family over the next week and of course on Christmas day, aside from that not too much planned, have a fighting game tournament (playing Street Fighter IV & Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3) on Wednesday which will be fun as always. Won’t be studying on the 25th but that’s the only day I’ll slack off, I think that’s fair! I’m meant to be going out with friends on Tuesday but I’m not sure if I’ll go because I’ve been feeling pretty sick the last 2 days. D:
You might be able to find a Nexus S for cheap, despite being single core it has really good performance offering a super smooth experience. It’s also getting Ice Cream Sandwich officially very soon. The screen is gorgeous too. If you ever get into rooting and installing custom versions of Android you can get around 2-3 days of battery really easily. Mine is sitting on 57% left with 1 day 19 hours of usage according to the battery meter. Of course that is light usage, no phone is going to last that long with a ton of 3G web browsing. :P

The screen is just amazing though, once you see an AMOLED you won’t want to go back. It blends into the bezel seamlessly and uses less power when black is displayed, because the screen sort of turns off to display black, it’s pretty weird but yeah, they are great screens!
Japanese Sentence Patterns for Effective Communication is the best book I have seen by far.
@Michael One of the corrections was indeed ここ at the start of that sentence, I didn’t know it could also be used for “this place”!
Today I started making my own Anki deck with basic and useful phrases copied from an app on my phone, figured they would be handy to know. All of my ultimate decks are back to normal on Anki now so I’m not doing 600+ reviews a day, ha. Not sure why my stats got reset but that was pretty annoying.
I’m resuming TextFugu content today too.
I don’t really like either, I tried a sample of Remembering the Kanji and didn’t think all that much of it. I prefer Read the Kanji because it’s also excellent for learning vocab and seeing how each kanji is used.
It is annoying they share the same acronym, haha.
It’s not really fair to say that a Wii will look bad on a HDTV, because it’s quite TV dependant. Some handle SD content better than others, my current 42″ plasma makes my PS2 look pretty good, my old LCD, which was actually smaller looked a lot worse. The Wii will look a bit better, since most PS2 games don’t support 480P but I believe that’s standard on the Wii.
When I had a Wii, I thought it looked pretty good via component cables at 480P. I only sit 5 feet away from my TV so if it didn’t look at least half-decent I’d have been pretty annoyed.

If you are using Google IME try typing “texi” in katakana mode or hold down shift in hiragana, that should work. ティティティティティ!
Putting an x before makes any character small I think, I use it for つ sometimes

I have been doing reviews the last 2 days now, I’m gonna press on with TextFugu’s content on Monday I think.
I also posted this on Lang-8 along with what I intended to say, I was totally guessing with the third sentence haha.
このところはふるくてとてもふしぎです。 こわいもおもいです。
This place is old and very mysterious. I think it’s scary too.あれはとても難しかったです。 なにはこたえでしたか。
That was very difficult. What was the answer?昨日かれは犬が一緒をあるきました。
Yesterday he walked the dog.りんごはきらいけどぶどうが好きです。
I don’t like apples but I do like grapes.I was a little surprised because I didn’t get that many corrections, the third sentence was the only one that had more than minor errors so I was quite pleased!
