Oh yes, iKnow is an excellent app. Funny enough I actually went back to iKnow early this morning.

I haven’t paid for the monthly subscription yet, kinda pricey. I’m just concentrating TextFugu, and maybe join a weekend class very soon.

talk about apps. Try the “free for now” i-Sokki Japanese. iKnow is better, but at least i-Sokki is free. :)

    Hello Kanjiman8!

When I first started, I managed to sync it via iTunes for the first few desks. But now it doesn’t work. Hmm… Absolutely no idea what to do.

    I’m from London, UK.
Very busy for the past weeks, I’ll be moving and living in Singapore starting from April. At least for one year.

Hmm…. I’ll be back here to say “I’m from Singapore”! :’)

    I figured out the problem.

You have to load the .anki file first, then media .zip file afterwards.

Doesn’t work when I import both files via iTunes at the same time (in anki mobile option).

    Solved. ( ^^;)

    Hello Kuma-san,

IMO it’s not how much or how less the content you pay for, but it’s the idea, motivation, the drive, that this website is building. The structure for you to learn Japanese. It’s like paying an empty house, and you have to fill it in.

Most of the content can be made by anyone, or use free websites, or gathering your own content, even make your own lessons.

But I find TextFugu is a structure that is inputting the way I’m learning. I only joined a few days ago, and already setting up a valuable way of learning.

Therefore, IMO I’m paying for an idea, like the information “how to study”. And I personally think it’s more important than it’s content.

Also this forum rocks, I found two awesome websites through these threads. If I didn’t join TextFugu, I might not even discovered them. Not because of TextFugu’s “content”, but a path I discovered. It’s all worth the money if all this turns out well for the way I’m learning.

    Hello everyone!

Even though I always wanted to learn Japanese, I was never serious enough to do so.

For the past few months I realised how much I need to learn this language. I agree (above), you would need to ask yourself “why, and do you have to?”

You need to inspire yourself to do so, even if you’re bored doing the same thing over and over again.

Just think of an important reason, and remind yourself everyday that this “reason” is worth burning out over and over again.

Reasons like for your Japanese girlfriend/boyfriend, love of anime & manga, living in Japan, etc. And if this is one thing is utmost important, you shouldn’t care even if it’s a burnout, cause it’s all worth the effort.

Currently I’ve been thinking ways to learn efficiently and not to get burnt.
Right now I’m using large sticky notes and write down one “method of learning” on each note. Like flash cards, writing, reading, self-learning websites, watching Jdrama, or anything Japanese related. Even listening Japanese music to relax. And every time I get bored, I will look at these sticky notes on my wall, and pick one, and so on.

    I’m not sure if it’s a good method, or will I ever learn this language. But…. I will remind myself “this” important reason, I will carry on! ^^;

right now I’m listening to one of my favourite soundtrack of all time.

I uploaded two pieces of his music. It’s from the film “Bounce ko Gals”
